St. Joseph's School for the Blind

St. Joseph’s School for the Blind has been a Select Employee Group of XCEL Federal Credit Union since August 1st, 2013.  St. Joseph’s has been delivering dedicated services to students with visual impairments throughout the State of New Jersey for over 100 years.  The school was founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. It is supported by a group of selfless and devoted individuals, one being our very own ambassador; Ellen Felicetta.  We at XCEL could not be prouder to have a SEG like St. Joseph's.  Their noble efforts to support those in need are not only admirable but inspiring.

After becoming CEO in 2017, I became aware that Saint Joseph’s School for the Blind was a part of XCEL.  My Dad who grew up in Jersey City always talked about Saint Joseph’s School for the Blind and the wonderful work they do for the visually impaired.  I made it my mission to visit the school and had the pleasure to meet with the Director of Communications, Ellen Felicetta, her staff and the students.  During my tour of the school, I walked into their art room and was immediately struck by this wonderful piece of art and most importantly the students that did it.  I just had to have it for my new office!  Needless to say, this is the focal point of my office and I receive numerous compliments on a daily basis.  I look at that painting every day in awe of the wonderful students who created this and think of my Dad, who would be very proud!” - Arlene Bernard (XCEL FCU, President/CEO)

Our success is rooted in the loyalty, perseverance and unfaltering dedication of rare individuals, like those at St. Joseph’s.  We are honored to have them as part of our journey and more importantly a member of the XCEL family.  XCEL has also donated all our Jeans Day donations to them last December.  Thank you St. Joseph’s School for the Blind for all that you have done and continue to do for those who need you the most.
